Those sections pertain to disciplinary action and NASCAR member conduct. Wallace criticized NASCAR officials on social media following the XFINITYSeries' Subway Firecracker 250 at Daytona International Speedway when expressing his displeasure with how the race ended. The finish was reviewed by NASCAR officials as the race ended under caution, and Aric Almirola was declared the winner.
Got the muppets up there officiating tonight! Never know how to react under pressure... Whatta joke
Section 12.1 of the rule book deals with the general procedure for a violation of NASCAR rules. Rule 12.8 a deals with NASCAR membership and member conduct. Rule 12.8.1 b deals with potential penalties and details having to do with member conduct. The XFINITY Series driver pilots the No. 6 Roush Fenway Racing Ford and is currently ninth in the series standings after a 20th-place finish at Daytona. Also on this week's penalty report: The No. 1 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team of Jamie McMurray was issued a written warning for failing the pre-race laser inspection system. This is the team's second warning. After four warnings, a team loses its pit selection for the next applicable race.
SPARTA, Kentucky – Young’s Motorsports has announced that Austin Hill will drive the No. 02 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) machine in Thursday night’s Buckle Up Your Truck 225 at Kentucky Speedway. Tyler Young, the Midland, Texas native and the team’s regular driver will return to the No. 02 Young’s Building Systems / Randco Chevrolet Silverado for the following race of the season at Eldora Speedway on Wed., July 20. “When I decided not to run the race at Iowa Speedway, it took us out of the opportunity to compete in this year’s Truck Chase,” said Young. “With us not having a prime opportunity to compete for the championship, we have jumped at the chance to work with others and bring outside knowledge in knowing it has the potential to strengthen our program overall. “The ability to work with a talented driver like Austin Hill not only provides a great opportunity to bring fresh insight, but also bounce ideas off not only me, but my crew chief Andrew Abbott as well. For us, it’s a win-win situation. Moving ahead, Young is insistent that his small team will continue to work hard and bring a capable and competitive product to the track each and every week, including for the 11th race of the season at Eldora. “Our Young’s Motorsports team has never been more strong-minded,” Young said. “They have seen the results we’ve put together so far in 2016 and they are adamant to continue to bring competitive trucks to the race tracks that will allow us to be in the hunt for top-10, top-15 finishes each week.” While Young, who holds a significant role in the day-to-day operations of his team during the week won’t rule out the opportunity to coach from the sideline again in 2016, he indulges at the thought of another career-best performance this season. “I think if everything happens, everything works the way we want it to, we could have more shots at top-10s or maybe even a top-five,” added Young. “We’ll see. For now, we’re focused on one race at a time and just out there, race hard and do our job and hope in the end the result will speak for itself.” While the team has embraced some of their personal milestones this season, the family-owned and operated team is also building a foundation as a driver development organization where the team specializes on the fundamentals of a core development structure. Debuting Derek Scott Jr. at Iowa Speedway last month added to the inner circle of Young’s Motorsports growth this season which includes a part-time NASCAR K&N Pro Series East program with driver Reid Wilson. Now, the opportunity to nestle Hill into a similar-type role is bound to pay dividends. In three highly competitive K&N races this year, Wilson and Young’s Motorsports have earned two top-10 finishes. Kyle Busch won the 2015 Quaker State 400 at Kentucky Speedway.
SPARTA, KY – The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to Kentucky Speedway this weekend for the sixth-annual Quaker State 400 presented by Advance Auto Parts.
Kyle Busch won the race in 2015 for his 2nd win of the season, second win at Kentucky, and 31st career win. He led 163 of the 267 laps. Joey Logano finished 2nd followed by Denny Hamlin, Carl Edwards, Matt Kenseth, Brad Keselowski, Jeff Gordon, Kevin Harvick, Jimmie Johnson, and Kurt Busch. Kyle Larson, who started the race from the pole, had to pit for a tire rub with 50 laps to go, then made contact with the wall and finished 35th. Harvick increased his drivers points lead to 68 points after the race. Johnson and Logano became tied for 2nd. With the win, Busch became just 87 points out of 30th (to get in the Chase) and needed around a 17th place average finish to crack the top 30 in the 8 races before the Chase. Busch missed much of the beginning of the season with an injury suffered in a wreck in February. Busch would go on to make the Chase and win the Sprint Cup Series championship. There were 13 lead changes among 8 drivers. There were 11 cautions for 49 yellow flag laps. The 11 cautions became a record at Kentucky.
DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA (July 2, 2016) – Dakoda Armstrong is a fan of restrictor plate racing and has a solid background that reflects that. He backed that up on Friday night as he piloted his No. 28 Winfield Toyota to a season best 12th place finish in the running of the Subway Firecracker 250 at the Daytona International Speedway.
“Our No. 28 Winfield Toyota was pretty good for most of the race,” said Armstrong. “We were much better running in the outside line – we got stuck on the bottom there for a bit and unless I was towards the front our car just wouldn’t go. The guys on this JGL Racing team worked hard and we were able to avoid the many on-track incidents to come home with our best finish of the season thus far.”
Dakoda would start the scheduled 100-lap event from the 26th position as a result of his qualifying effort earlier in the day. The New Castle, Indiana native knew he had a good car in the draft and showed that as he methodically worked his way through the field and into the sixth position at the halfway mark of the event.
Armstrong would swiftly avoid the multiple on-track accidents and put himself in position for a solid finish at the end of the scheduled 250-mile event. With overtime producing a wild finish and another last lap “Big One”, Dakoda steered clear and brought his No. 28 Winfield Toyota safely home to a season best finish.
“We had to be patient throughout the race and a timely caution there at the end put us in a position to get a good finish,” added Dakoda. “This is a good follow up to our run a few weeks ago at Iowa and I think we have a little positive momentum on our side right now. Hopefully we can go to Kentucky next week and keep things going in the right direction.”
The 12th-place finish would keep Armstrong in the 15th position in the overall NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers’ standings – 40 points of the top-12.
Armstrong and his JGL Racing team will next head to Kentucky Speedway for the running of the Alsco 300. The 16th race of the NASCAR XFINITY Series season will be Friday July 8th and can be seen LIVE on NBC Sports Network at 8:30 pm ET. It can also be heard on Motor Racing Network (MRN) and SiriusXM Channel 90.
