The No. 22 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series team of Joey Logano was issued an L1-level penalty for violating Section 20.14.2 Rear Suspension I-4 f Truck Trailing Arm Spacers/Pinion Angle Shims) of the NASCAR Rule Book, NASCAR announced Thursday.
As a result, crew chief Todd Gordon has been fined $50,000 and suspended for two Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series races. The team has been assessed with the loss of 25 owner points and 25 driver points.
Also, the No. 11 Cup Series team on Denny Hamlin was issued a safety penalty for violating Sections 10.9.10.4 (Tires and Wheels [Note: Lug nut(s) not properly installed]) of the NASCAR Rule Book. As a result, crew chief Mike Wheeler has been fined $10,000.
In the NASCAR XFINITY Series, the No. 21 team was given a safety penalty for improperly installed lug nuts. Crew chief Danny Stockman Jr. has been fined $10,000 and has beem suspended for the next NASCAR XFINITY Series points race.
Also, the No.'s 3 and 46 NASCAR XFINITY Series teams were levied safety penalties for loose lug nuts. Crew chiefs Matt Swiderski (No. 3) and Mark Setzer (No. 460 have both been fined $5,000 each.
