Joe Gibbs Racing announced that Sam Hornish Jr. will run a part-time NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule in 2014, piloting the No. 54 car. He will pilot seven races in the car, Kyle Busch taking over in the other twenty-six. Hornish's first ride is on May 3rd at Talladega Superspeedway. Why is this wrong, Sam should have a full time ride. Sam has won three IndyCar Championships, has won the Indianapolis 500, and almost won the NASCAR Nationwide Series championship in 2013, but Austin Dillon just edged out. Sam has a very successful 2013 Nationwide Series season, and he is fully capable of driving a full time season in 2014. JGR should consider a full-time season for Hornish. Kyle Busch should most likely give up with the Nationwide Series. He has had his ride in the series, and he may not even be CLOSE to being out of his prime in the series, but the deed has been clearly done. JGR should cut the chord with Kyle in the Nationwide Series. JGR should put Hornish behind the wheel of the No. 54 car full-time in 2014. Hornish called his 2014 schedule "a great opportunity because it allows him to drive "top flight cars" |
