No Busch Brothers in the 2015 DAYTONA 500.
By @GucciardoJoey
Busch will not be in today's Daytona 500, as I said before, he may be out 5-6 months.

If you recall, during the off-season, Kurt Busch, 2004 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion, was in trouble for (Quoting a Delaware Judge) almost surely choked and beat his former wife, Patricia Driscoll, last September at Dover International Speedway.
Well, Busch's final appeal was denied by NASCAR, so he remains out of the Daytona 500.
Regan Smith will replace him in the race.
But what happened to Kyle Busch?
Well, he was injured in yesterday's XFINITY Series opener at Daytona International Speedway. He is likely to be out for 5-6 months.
Busch hit a part of the Daytona International Speedway wall that had no Safer-Barriers.
Busch did not even go to the Infield Care Center, he went straight to Halifax Medical Center.
The last time the DAYTONA 500 had no Busch brothers was in 2000. Kurt Busch ran his first Daytona 500 in 2001. He finished 41st in the race.
In the recovery room with Kyle he's alert n chatting. Surgery went well. We thank you all for the support, prayers and love during this time

The news was that Busch was alive, and alert and responsive in the Halifax Medical Center only minutes from Daytona International Speedway.Busch will not be in today's Daytona 500, as I said before, he may be out 5-6 months.
Hopin the best for @KyleBusch, that was rough.

We wish Kyle Busch a speedy recovery, and condolences to the Busch and Driscoll family during a time of extreme hardship.Ryan Reed Wins Crazy XFINITY Series DAYTONA Opener

Well, Ryan Reed won a heck of a race.
This was a big day for Diabetes Awareness.
Ryan Reed is a diabetic, but he doesn't let that stop him from racing in NASCAR.
Reed had a lot to say in victory lane.
"Four years ago, I was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes, was told I would never drive a race car again, and now I'm standing in victory lane at DAYTONA with Roush Fenway! Oh my god, we won DAYTONA!"
It was a heck of a finish. Brad Keselowski had the lead in Turn 3 on the final lap, but he was left a sitting duck in Turn 4. Keselowski finished in 5th.
Chris Buescher finished in 2nd, Ty Dillon was in 3rd, and Austin Dillon, Ty's older brother, finished in 4th.
With 27 laps to go, the first red flag of the race was thrown. Daniel Suarez was turned in the tri-oval of the track, and took out many drivers, including Regan Smith and reigning XFINITY Series champion Chase Elliott.
Elliott had minor damage and decided that he should try to finish the race because the damage didn't seem too bad to him or his team.
But Regan Smith wasn't so lucky. He flipped over once and his car was destroyed. Luckily, Smith was okay.
But, there was a much more scary red flag with 7 laps to go.
Chase Elliott was involved in his second wreck of the race.
Before I say anything else, I just want you to know that Kyle Busch was alive and alert and well in Halifax Medical Hospital according to reliable sources.
But in this red flag, Kyle Busch went sliding through the grass exiting the tri-oval, and hit the wall hard. The reason Busch was injured was that this particular wall on the track had no safer barriers can
Busch climbed out of the car but seemed hurt.
He skipped the Infield Care Center and went straight to Halifax Medical Center:

Kyle Busch will NOT be running in today's DAYTONA 500. Matt Crafton will fill his place. Busch is expected to be out for at least 5-6 months.
Who will fill in for Busch AFTER the 500 is unknown.
But, during the first red flag, cars were coming to a stop on the backstretch. Austin Dillon had stopped but Justin Marks slammed on his brakes. He slammed into Dillon under the rifh flag. Luckily, no one was hurt in this incident either. Dillon would continue to finish in 4th.
On the last lap of the race, there was another wreck involving Kyle Larson. Larson spun down the track in the same fashion as Busch, but not with as much speed, Larson kept the car from hitting the wall, Larson was not really in any danger in this wreck.
We wish Kyle Busch a speedy recovery, and a big congratulations to Ryan Reed on winning the XFINITY Series opener at DAYTONA International Speedway.

Tyler Reddick wins Truck Series opener at DAYTONA
By Joey Gucciardo
Daytona Beach, Fla- He's only, 19, but Tyler Reddick is making a name for himself.
Tyler Reddick led 46 laps at Daytona International Speedway. Jones led the final 33 laps of the race as part of those 46.
He was on a part-time schedule in 2014 for Brad Keselowski Racing but went full-time for the team this season.
Erik Jones came in second. Scott Lagassee JR. came in second, followed by Truck Series rookie Austin Theriault, then Ray Black JR.
"My truck was fast, I just wish we could've won. Second's always no fun," said Jones, who never led in the race.
A half hour to fourth minutes after the race, Reddick ran into the DAYTONA International Speedway media center and said that he had received over 140 text messages from people he knew.
There were six cautions in the race. The biggest wreck was on lap 49 when Ben Kennedy slowly moved to the outside of the track at the end of the backstretch and caused a chain reaction wreck of 12 cats that involved the reigning champion Matt Crafton.
Congratulations to Tyler Reddick on winning at DAYTONA International Speedway.

Earnhardt JR., Johnson Win Duels
Jimmie Johnson (Jerry Markland/Getty Images) (Left) and Dale Earnhardt JR. (Jared C. Tilton) (Right) celebrate in victory lane after winning the Budweiser Duels. |
Well, Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt R. both had fabulous nights last night.
In DAYTONA 500 group qualifying, Dale Earnhardt JR. and Denny Hamlin failed post-qualifying inspection and had to start in the back for their Duels.
Let's just say that JiR. went from last to first in his Duel and will start third in the DAYTONA 500.
Jimmie Johnson won his Duel, but he was luckily already going to start second in the DAYTONA 500.
As you already knew, Jeff Gordon was going to start on the pole in his last Daytona 500.
But, Ty Dillon made headlines as well. He will run his first EVER DAYTONA 500 this Sunday with his brother Austin Dillon in the race as well. Ty Dillon is the only driver who will be running in the Trucks, XFINITY, and Sprint Cup opening races this season at Daytona.
Let's talk about Kyle Busch for a bit.
Since KB finished second to Johnson, Busch will start fourth right next to Dale Earnhardt JR.
This was Dale Earnhardt JR.'s fourth career Duel win. That would be the most but Jeff Gordon has five career Duel wins, so Gordon has the record.
By the 10th lap of his Duel race, JR. had worked his way up from 25th place, to sixth place.
But for Johnson, well this was his first ever Duel victory.
Kyle Busch actually had the lead in his Duel but lost it to speeding in Pit Road.
What also happened in Duel #2 was a four car wreck involving Jeb Burton and Alex Bowman. Austin Dillon and Sam Hornish JR. were also involved. David Ragan, who spun out earlier in the race, luckily didn't sustain much damage. He got the free pass on the caution of this four car wreck, which put him in a good spot to make the 500, which he did.
But Danica Patrick needed to get a Top-15 finish in her Duel or better if she wanted to guarantee a spot in the DAYTONA 500. But she was involved in a wreck instead. A wreck that seemed to have been begun by Denny Hamlub collected Patrick, Bobby Labonte, and Brian Scott. Patrick went straight into the wall.
The people that didn't make the 500 were Brian Scott, Justin Marks, Ron Hornaday JR., Jeb Burton, and Alex Bowman.
FINAL RESULTS: DUEL #1

Why the Truck Series will be good in 2015
By @GucciardoJoey | February 19th, 2015
Matt Crafton does a burnout after winning the 2014 NCTWS championship with race-winner Darrell Wallace JR. and Wallace's team-owner, Kyle Busch (Photo: Eric Gilbert/Motorsport.com) |
The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series was established in 1995. Since then, it has brought extreme and awesome action to the wonderful sport of NASCAR.
But, the NCTWS season opener is tomorrow at Daytona International Speedway. It is called the Nextera Energy Resources 250.
So here's why you should watch the Truck Series this season.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
1: Matt Crafton: Crafton is coming out of 2014 and into 2015 with his second consecutive NCTWS championship (2013-14). No other driver has done that before. Crafton came into the Truck Series in 2000. He has 5 total career wins in the series since his debut in 2000, 76 career top-5's, and 192 career top-10's.
2: Erik Jones: This young talent has only been in the Truck Series for two seasons (2013-14), 2015 being his third. He was not even full-time in 2014, driving the No. 51 Toyota for Kyle Busch Motorsports. He has four total career wins, seven career top-5's, and thirteen career top-10's
3. The regulars keep up: In the NASCAR XFinity Series, the Sprint Cup Series drivers almost always seem to dominate the races, but not so much in the Truck Series. Very often, the Truck Series regulars keep up with the Cup Series stars, and race them hard, giving Cup Series drivers a run for their money. Often, a Truck Series driver will win the race, but if a Cup driver wins, almost always in that case they were fighting hard with Truck Series regulars for the win.
That is why you should watch the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series this season.

The new Daytona 500 Qualifying format: Good or bad?
By @NickS79 | February 17th 2015
On Sunday, we had the new Group Qualifying format at Daytona. Everything looked good, but than it ended in a crash with Clint Bowyer and Reed Sorenson. "It's NASCAR's fault for putting us out in the middle of this crap for nothing," said Bowyer and Denny Hamlin said: "Mayhem. There's no other word to describe it." I think Clint is right. The crew members work really hard on these cars and why should we brake the traditional Qualifying format? Nascar should go back to the old rules and listen to their fans and the drivers. I hope they change the rules and go back to the old format. Another bad point is that the drivers slowed down on the track. Thats dangerous for the other drivers and it's not fair because not the fastest driver would win the pole (I don't want to say that Jeff Gordon didn't deserve the pole. I only want to say that it can go like this.) I hope Nascar go back to the older rules, because it's a tradition that we run single car Laps.
But there are also good points:
There is more action on the track. The drivers fight alot more and it's more about tactic now (when should I go out and drive my lap, what other options do I have?). These questions play an important role now, for the perfect Lap.

Matt Kenseth wins the Sprint Unlimited
By @GucciardoJoey | February 15th, 2015
Daytona Beach, Fla.--- Well, this was a hell of a race.
Matt Kenneth must have had one happy Valentine's Day.
Let's start out at the beginning.
Due to a blind fan vote, Paul Menard got the pole. AJ Allmendinger made this race because of his win at Watkins Glen in 2014, But he declined to focus more on the DAYTONA 500.
Brian Vickers, who won one pole in 2014 also made this race, but couldn't participate due to an open-heart surgery in December 2014.
Clint Bowyer took his place.
Let's just say, 25 cars started the race, but only twelve finished.
Early in the race, Brad Keselowski spun into the grass in the trip-oval after getting hit by Kyle Larson. Keselowski came up the track and just barely missed Jimmie Johnson as they were in the tri-oval. Kyle Busch and Austin Dillon almost went with him. Keselowski finished last. The final caution was involving Tony Stewart and Greg Biffle. Stewart tried to squeeze past Kyle Busch, but it didn't work.
Luckily, no one was hurt, but fans were worried about Tony Stewart. He had off-season leg surgery in December of 2014, but came back to race in the Sprint Unlimited.
Then, later on, Jamie McMurray spun as the cars exited turn 4, and many more were involved. This time, Johnson wasn't so lucky. Denny Hamlin went spinning in the grass, through the WHOLE tri-oval, and when Hamlin came to a stop, Johnson T-boned him. Paul Menard was involved.
Kenseth is a two-time winner of the upcoming Daytona 500.
Kenneth told a lot to ESPN.
"There's nothing like winning. That's why we come out and do this every week. Getting a win was the best part for us."

New NASCAR on NBC Sports Ad Sparks Controversy
By @GucciardoJoey | February 2nd 2015
Well, NBC Sports will be back covering NASCAR races this season starting on July 4th weekend.
To promote this return, NBC Sports released an ad featuring Nick Offerman (Famous for playing Ron Swanson in NBC's "Parks and Recreation.") in what I think is a hilarious commercial.
The ad, which depicts NASCAR as a welcoming, fun, and humorous sport, inspired a petition that was signed by over 18,000 people on Change.org so far. A man named "Gluten Dude" started the petition. He claims that the ad "makes fun" of those who are gluten-free.
Click Here for the petition if interested.
Gluten Dude apparently has Celiac disease. He wrote "Celiac can be a true pain. The media is not helping and this petition is to get NBC to see the light of day."
Should NBC remove this ad, or should they keep running it?
