Carl Edwards is expected to announce Wednesday that he plans to retire immediately from NASCAR racing after a 13-year career in the Cup Series, says ESPN's Bob Pockrass.
Edwards won 28 times in 445 starts in his Sprint Cup careet.
There is no immediate reason available why the 37-year-old Edwards would retire, but reigninhg XFINITY Series champion Daniel Duarez is expected to take Edwards' place.
