Race 19 of 36: As the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season passes into the second half of the season, Matt DiBenedetto and the Go Fas Racing team head to New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Go Fas Racing will be debuting another new scheme this week with a group of local sponsors on board. The team currently sits 31st in the points standings and has had a run of good finishes as of late.
Hot Streak Continues: Three weeks, three top-25's. It may not sound like much, but for a small team like that of Go Fas Racing, it means a lot. In the last three weeks, Matt DiBenedetto has brought home a 23rd place finish at Sonoma, 13th place finish at Daytona, and a 25th place finish at Kentucky Speedway. Those finishes, along with cars with minimal damage, has really turned the luck around at the Go Fas shop. They'll look to continue that at New Hampshire Motor Speedway this weekend at Go Fas Racing's home track.
Home-Field Advantage: Much of the Go Fas team calls the New England area home. Team-owner Archie St. Hilaire, team manager Mason St. Hilaire, and engine tuner Willie Pelotte all grew up or still live in the area.
As part of that homecoming, local companies Weirs Motor Sales, Bentley's Saloon, Carl R. Perkins Paving, Bangor Truck Equipment, Mike's Clam Shack, and The Rod Father have all come on board in New Hampshire this weekend as sponsors of Matt DiBenedetto and the team. Matt promoted these sponsors Wednesday night at an appearance at Bentley's Saloon, where he met fans, raffled off Go Fas apparel, and signed autographs for local fans.
DiBenedetto said, "I had a lot of fun getting to meet many of the fine groups that are on-board our No.32 Ford this weekend. It's definitely cool to have a grassroots group of local companies come together to support Archie and Mason. It reminds me a lot of the local-racing days where we had some smaller companies on board and relied on them to make it week to week. The St. Hilaire's are great people and they're surrounded by even more great people with these sponsors."
DiBenedetto on New Hampshire Motor Speedway: "We definitely had a rough patch that ended about a month ago, but now that that's been done, we've rattled off some good finishes. Gene and the team have been working hard and we feel like we are starting to get ahead on some of these weeks. Now that we're getting into the second-half of the season, we want to continue this momentum and keep bringing home race cars in one piece."
Chassis Info: Crew Chief Gene Nead will be bringing chassis GFR-943 to serve as the primary car. This is the first race this chassis has run for Go Fas.
