Montoya to Race In 2014 at Indy and Michigan

By Joey Gucciardo, UNB! Staff Member | 3:53 PM E.T.

Returning to Penske Racing in 2014 is none other than Juan Pablo Montoya.

Montoya's last race in NASCAR was at Homestead-Miami Speedway in November, which was won by Denny Hamlin.

Juan moved to the Verizon IndyCar Racing team owned by his only NASCAR team owner Roger Penske. Montoya came close to making racing history in 2009. He won the Indianapolis 500 in 2000, and almost won the Brickyard 400 in 2009. He finished second, not bad considering it was his rookie year in NASCAR. Montoya would have been the first auto racer to win at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in both IndyCar Racing and in NASCAR.

Montoya talked to the media at Indy this morning:

"It's one of those places where I feel like I got robbed a few times. To be able to come here and be able to close that deal will be really, really nice."

Montoya will drive the No. 12 Ford to hopefully be part of the June 15th race at Michigan Int'l Speedway.

Tempers Flare At Richmond

By Joey Gucciardo, UNB Staff Member

Richmond, VA--- With Brad Keselpwski and Matt Kenseth having a brawl, and Casey Mears and Marcos Ambrose having a fistfight, Joey Logano has won at Richmond Int'l Raceway.

Logano led the last lap, and the last lap only. Clint Bowyer had problems early. An accident on the first lap lead him to earn a last place finish.

Kyle Larson, the pole sitter, and Clint Bowyer made contact as the field entered Turn 1 for the first time.

Robert Griffin III, the quarterback for the Washington Redskind was driving the pace car this weekend after Dale Earnhardt JR. requested that Robert drive the car.

Harvick Wins At Richmond

By Joey Gucciardo / 8:26 AM E.T.

RICHMOND, VA--- With Chase Elliott coming in 2nd place, ending his winning streak, Kevin Harvick has won the ToyotaCare 250.

As soon as Harvick took the lead in the race, he had the win in the bag. On lap 48/250, Harvick passed pole sitter Brian Scott for the lead. Basically, Harvick dominated from there. Harvick led 202 laps.

This finish was the first 1-2 finish for JR. Motorsports. Kevin Harvick commented on Chase Elliott to NASCAR.COM:

"Honestly, Chase is a good kid, and he knows how to drive a race car, he pushes us to be better by trying different things (from what we've been doing) through the years. The groove getting into Turn 1, I had to change my groove tonight and change my car because it was different.

Harvick crossed the finish line 2.069 seconds ahead of Chase Elliott.

Is Richmond a "Speedway", or a "Short Track"?

By Joey Gucciardo | 9:40 AM E.T.

We all know Richmond International Raceway. I have always thought of it as the "Mini DAYTONA", since it is a "D"-Shaped Oval track, the same size as DAYTONA International Speedway, just smaller. So, is Richmond a short track, or a speedway.

The two shortest tracks in NASCAR are Bristol Motor Speedway, and the famous Martinsville Speedway. Both tracks are at least 1/2 of a mile long. I compared Richmond to DAYTONA, DAYTONA being a 2.5 mile track. Richmond is only 3/4 of a mile long, and has still gained a reputation for having some of the finest racing in NASCAR.

So, is Richmond a short track, or a speedway. I'd have to say that it's a mix of both. It has the shape of a Speedway, but the size of a slightly larger short track.

DARLINGTON, SC---Just last night, Jimmie a Johnson had the race in the bag, with 3 laps to go that is. But after two "Green White Checkered" finishes, Kevin Harvick has won at Darlington.

Kasey Kahne hit the wall, Bobby Labonte had a tire incident, Harvick finished 1st, JR in 2nd, and Johnson in 3rd.

DeLana Harvick was pissed of in Kevin's pit stall with the "Green White Checkered" attempts. But in the end, Harvick stood out on top.

Chase Elliott DOUBLES DOWN At Darlington Raceway

By Joey Gucciardo

THE FOLLOWING EPIC ARTICLE IS SO AWESOME THAT IT MAY BLOW YOU AWAY!!!!!

Imaging an 18 year old, racing at Darlington, no experience, but he does such an ULTIMATE Bump N' Run on the final lap that not only did he win, but he won in such EPIC style. THAT is Chase Elliott.

Elliott won last week's race at Texas Motor Speedway, and has just won tonight's race at Darlington Raceway,

"Man, that was crazy." Elliott said to Dr. Jerry Punch of ESPN in victory lane.

The next race is on April 25th, 2014, the ToyotaCare 250 at Richmond International Raceway.

FORT WORTH, Tx--- Jeff Gordon almost got it done today at Texas Motor Speedway. Joey Logano had the lead when the race went into a "Green-White-Checkered" finish.

Logano came out of the pits third, Gordon came out first. On the final lap, Logano took the lead from Gordon. He had a run on Logano on the outside line in Turns 1 and 2, but started to fall back on the backstretch.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. had a bad day, wrecking on lap 14, making him finish last (43rd). Jimmie Johnson was involved, as well.

Kurt Busch was the one who caused the "Green-White-Checkered" finish, with debris flying off of his car.

Chase Elliott wins nationwide race at TEXAS

By Joey Gucciardo, UNB Staff Member

Fort Worth, TX---
If you're looking for an article on Kyle Busch winning in Nationwide, you've come to the wrong place. The son of the "Million Dollar Bill" Bill Elliott, Chase Elliott, 18, won Friday night's O'Reilly Auto Parts 300 at Texas Motor Speedway for his first Nationwide Series win.

Throughout most of the race, Chase was right next to his team owner, Dale Earnhardt JR. It was just like the old days, where Bill Elliott and Dale Earnhardt SR. would be a huge and classic NASCAR rivalry.

Tragedy in the Janway Family

First, it was the HENDRICK plane crash in 2004, Jimmie Johnson won the next week in honor of the 10 great HENDRICK employees killed. Now, the Janway family must grieve the loss of a great skydiver.

According to reports on the San Diego area, Jordan Janway, the brother of Jimmie's wife Chandra, was killed in a skydiving accident. He was a "senior parachute and rigor instructor." Supposedly, he was teaching others how to skydive at the time of the accident.

As Jimmie, Chani, Evie, and Lydia head to Texas Motor Speedway, they will be grieving the loss of Jordan Janway
