No. 47 Cup Series crew chief suspended three races

NASCAR announced the post-race penalties for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and the NASCAR XFINITY Series on Wednesday.

The No. 47 Cup Series team of AJ Allmendinger failed post-race inspection for violating Sections 10.9.10.4 of the NASCAR Rule Book: Tires and Wheels (Note: Race finish is encumbered per Section 12.10 Encumbered Race Finishes. Lug nut(s) not properly installed. As a result, crew chief Randall Burnett has been fined $65,000 and suspended from the next three Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series points events. Also, the team has been assessed with the loss of 35 driver and 35 owner points. The team was assessed an L1 level penalty.

In the NASCAR XFINITY Series, the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing team was given an L1 level penalty for failing post-race inspection as a result of violating Sections 20.17.3.2.1.2 of the NASCAR Rule Book: Post-Race Front Body Inspection Heights (Note: Race finish is encumbered per Section 12.10 Encumbered Race Finishes. Post-race height measurements were outside NASCAR allowed tolerances). As a result, crew chief Scott Graves has been fined $10,000 and suspended from the next NASCAR XFINITY Series points event. Also, the team has been assessed with the loss of 10 NASCAR XFINITY Series owner points.

The No. 23 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series team was given an L1 level penalty for violating Section 20.17.3.3 of the NASCAR Rule Book: Ground Clearance Inspection Measurements (Note: Race finish is encumbered per Section 12.10 Encumbered Race Finishes. Post-race height measurements were outside NASCAR allowed tolerances). As a result, crew chief Jeff Stankiewicz has been fined $5,000 and suspended from the next NASCAR Camping World Truck Series points event. Plus, the team has been assessed with the loss of 10 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series owner points.

The No. 23 Truck Series team was also issued a safety penalty for violating Section 10.9.10.4 of the rule book: Tires and Wheels (Note: Lug nut(s) not properly installed). As a result, Stankiewicz has been fined an additional $2,500.
