JOLIET, IL – Jimmie Johnson led the only Friday practice for Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Chase opener at Chicagoland Speedway with a speed of 183.780 MPH.
Edwards, Denny Hamlin, Brad Keselowski and Chase Elliott rounded out the Top-5.
Johnson had the best 10-consecutive lap average at 180.909 MPH.
Josh Wise was slowest at 171.396 MPH.
Reed Sorenson had no speed.
Elliott ran the most laps, running 48.
Rain at the track early in the afternoon forced NASCAR to cancel qualifying so that teams could get additional practice time on the track. This will be the only practice today. There will be two practices tomorrow.
