RICHMOND, Va. – Garrett Smithley finished 31st Friday night in the Virginia 529 College Savings 250 Xfinity Series race at Richmond International Raceway.
Driving the Flex Shot Chevrolet, Smithley started 32nd on the grid. On a night when there were only two caution flags, drivers in the back of the pack found it difficult to gain positions.
“It was a long night for us,” Smithley said. “We finished the race, but we didn’t get the result we were hoping for. The laps we got in will help as we push forward, though.”
Smithley stayed 18th in Xfinity driver points.
Kyle Busch won the race, and Elliott Sadler kept the series point lead.
The series moves on to Chicagoland Speedway next weekend for the final race of the regular season.
