Logano wins Sprint Cup Michigan pole

BROOKLYN, MI – Joey Logano on Friday won the Coors Light pole for the Pure Michigan 400 Sprint Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway with speed of 201.698 MPH for his 3rd pole of 2016, 3rd at Michigan and 17th of his career.

Logano has won three races from the pole in his career in 16 tries, including both times he won the pole at Michigan. Logano won from the pole in June at Michigan, leading 138 of 200 laps.

Jimmie Johnson will start 2nd, followed by Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick, Chase Elliott, Alex Bowman, Ryan Blaney, Jamie McMurray, Carl Edwards, Ryan Newman, Kasey Kahne and Kyle Larson.

Larson was quickest in the second round with a speed of 201.879 MPH, and will start 12th, as Johnson was fastest in the first round at 201.134 MPH, and starts 2nd.

Since the maximum of 40 cars entered the race, everyone made the race.
