BROOKLYN, MI – Martin Truex Jr. led opening NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice at Michigan on Friday with a speed of 201.545 MPH.
Jimmie Johnson came in second, followed by Joey Logano, Ryan Blaney and Kyle Larson.
Alex Bowman, filling in for Dale Earnhardt Jr., was 14th fastest.
Tony Stewart ran 29 laps, the most in the session.
Reed Sorenson was slowst at 187.818 MPH.
Late in practice, Jeffrey Earnhardt got into the wall, the team will go to a backup car for qualifying.
Qualifying is scheduled for 5:15pm ET on NBCSN.
