Its been a few weeks since the unveiling of the new NASCAR Cup Series Charter system and they're a few pros and cons I'd like to address:
One pro I've picked up on is that they're less cars in the field (40) than before (43). Why is that a pro? Financial stability is why. With less cars in the field that's more money for sponsors and teams to work with than NASCAR trying to field 43 cars every week. Another pro is the guaranteeing of 36 cars in the field with the remaining 4 decided on speed. That also ties in with less stress on teams and financial stability.
One huge con is this. So far, the fans hate it. Reason being is that some fans may not get to see their favorite driver race. There are fans who are confused on what's really going on. Fans aren't garbage, but the way the sport has become they certainly feel as though Brian France is treating them that way.
You decide. Is the Charter System a good idea or not?
