Composite body cars testing at Michigan today

ARCA Statement.

BROOKLYN, Mich. (May 19, 2016) – Join us right here at arcaracing.com for live timing and scoring and live chat for today’s ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards open test at Michigan Int’l Speedway.

Composite Body Cars Testing at Michigan
Several teams will be testing at Michigan Thursday. The practice day will serve as the first open test (on a superspeedway) for the composite body cars in preparation for the body’s superspeedway debut at Pocono June 3, followed by the Michigan race June 10. The composite body cars have already conducted private superspeedway tests at Daytona and Chicagoland, and have spent several hours testing in wind tunnels. Composite bodies have been eligible on all short tracks from 2015 forward. Series officials announced last October that the composite body cars will be eligible on superspeedways in 2016, with the exception of Daytona and Talladega.

The open test at Michigan is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday with an hour break for lunch at noon. Media are welcome to attend.

ARCAracing.com will feature live timing and scoring and live chat from the test.

ARCA’s relationship with Michigan reaches back to 1980 when Joe Ruttman won the inaugural ARCA race event from the pole. Other former Michigan ARCA winners over the decades include Bob Keselowski, Jeff Purvis, Tim Steele, Kerry Earnhardt, Casey Mears, Reed Sorenson, Steve Wallace, Parker Kligerman, Ty Dillon, Chris Buescher and Ross Kenseth to name a few. There hasn’t been a repeat ARCA winner at Michigan since Steele pulled off the feat in 1996 and 1997.

The 35th annual Corrigan Oil 200 at Michigan is live on FS1 Friday, June 10.
