FOUNTAIN CITY, WI -- After being rained out on Friday, the Mississippi Thunder Speedway is ready to host the 5th Annual Dahl Chevrolet, Buick, GMC Modified Nationals, the Quarter Million Dollar Weekend.
Racers head into the race with the hopes of winning the $40,000 A-Main Feature winning purse, or the $20,000 B-Main Feature winning prize.
Headlining the race are currently suspended drivers Scott Bloomquist and Jimmy Owens, who recently, in northern New York’s Federal Court, the drivers filed a civil suit against World Racing Group, Eldora Speedway, Tony Stewart and UMP DIRTcar racing for damages.
The complaint states that Bloomquist, Owens, along with Gregg Satterlee, Brandon Sheppard, and Ricky Thornton Jr. are all plaintiffs in the case. All the drivers were disqualified during the 2015 or 2016 events.
In 2015, immediately after the event, all cars must pass over the scales to ensure that they meet minimum weight. Bloomquist’s car was underweight and disqualified.
Along with Bloomquist and Owens, among the top drivers from around the country are USMTS title contender Cade Dillard (Robeline, LA), and former USMTS national champions Jason Hughes (Watts, OK), Jason Krohn (Slayton, MN), Ryan Gustin (Marshalltown, IA) and Rodney Sanders (Happy, TX).
"There's a lot of big money coming up for grabs," Sanders told the Post-Bulletin after winning the USMTS feature at Deer Creek on Saturday. "Hopefully we can keep the car running well and go get some of it."
Ryan Gustin won Thursday night’s A-Mod feature, while Michael Truscott was the winner of the B-Mod feature.
Attending the race are companies Pixographs and RPM Services LLC, who are all involved deeply in the racing community.
RPM Services LLC 's Signature model Corttanie Hambrick is going to be the feature trophy presenter Saturday and Sunday. You can view a bio on Hambrick at www.corttanie.com.
