NASCAR held a media teleconference with NASCAR Executive Vice President and Chief Racing Development Officer Steve O'Donnell and Senior Vice President of Competition Scott Miller to discuss the penalty procedure on Wednesday evening.
NASCAR said they will make updates to post-race inspections, and that the only penalties for post-race LIS inspection failures will be fore large violations that are a P4 and will become encumbered wins.
Also, Martin Truex Jr. and Jimmie Johnson will not be penalized for their inspection issues after Chicagoland. Tolerances will be increased.
Also, from now on, all Chase drivers will go through post-race inspection.
