BK Racing announces Driver Swap, Throwback Paint Scheme for Darlington

By @GucciardoJoey

Jeb Burton's No. 23 ESTES Toyota Camry that he will try to race
into the 66th running of the Southern 500, now called the
"Bojangles Southern 500."
BK Racing has announced that Jeb Burton, who will be driving the No. 23 car this weekend for the team instead of the usual no. 26 car, will be joining the many drivers doing throwback paint schemes for the upcoming Sprint Cup Series race at Darlington Raceway.

Burton's rookie year in Cup has been a rough one for sure, with the No. 26 missing seven races and cracking the top 30 just twice this season.

Burton's paint scheme will be honoring his great father, Ward Burton, a NASCAR legend, and a two-time winner at Darlington.

However, the team has also announced a driver swap. JJ Yeley will be driving the No. 26 car, and Jeb Burton will be driving the No. 23 car.

"I saw all the throwback stuff and Estes has the same colors as Dad had, so I just thought about the idea and I got the PR team to come up with a design," Jeb Burton said. "I saw it and I thought it'd be a cool idea so we went on with it."

Ward Burton caught his first glimpse of the car's vintage look ahead of last weekend's race at Bristol Motor Speedway.

"It's really cool," the 53-year-old Burton said. "We had a lot of success at Darlington, but more importantly I really appreciate Jeb thinking about me."

Coincidently, the driver swap puts Jeb Burton in a car that has a number closer to his father's, which was No. 22.

Ward Burton's most famous victory in the No. 22 is undoubtedly a Daytona 50 win in 2002.
