UNB! Network Staff Report

Lewis Hamilton is a three-time Formula 1 (F1) World Champion. The only NASCAR experience he ever had was back in 2011 when he and Tony Stewart switched rides (not in a real race) for a promotional project for lone of their sponsors, Mobil 1.

But besides that, Hamilton has never had any real NASCAR experience.

But Hamilton recently told the famous British newspaper The Mirror that "I'd really like to do a NASCAR race one day."

Hamilton would not be the first Formula 1 driver to give NASCAR a shot. 2007 F1 World Champion Kimi Raikkonen made two stars in NASCAR in 2011. One start was in the Truck Series, and the other was in the XFINITY Series. He finished 15th in his Truck debut, and 27th in his XFINITY Series debut. Juan Pablo Montoya is the other driver who raced in Formula 1 to give NASCAR a shot. He won twice in the Sprint Cup Series and once in the XFINITY Series.

FIA Formula E racer Nelson Piquet Jr., who raced in Formula 1 in 2008 and 2009, actually won so Truck Series races, and one XFINITY Series race.

Jacques Villenueuve, who has also raced in Formula 1 has had four starts in the NACCAR Sprint Cup Series, and some impressive races in the XFINITY Series, but no wins in any NASCAR series.

Hamilton would not be the first Formula 1 driver to compete in NASCAR, but it would sure be interesting to see the Brotish driver compete in this American racing league.
