Sprint Cup/Trucks Tire Notes/Facts for Kansas Speedway

Info from Jayski.

Here are some notes and facts on the tires that will be run by the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series this weekend at Kansas Speedway.

NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES:
Tire: Goodyear Eagle Speedway Radials

Set limits: 5 sets for practice/qualifying and 10 sets for the race

Tire Codes:
Left-side -- D-4656;
Right-side -- D-4662

Tire Circumference:
Left-side -- 87.56 in. (2,224 mm);
Right-side -- 88.35 in. (2,244 mm)

Minimum Recommended Inflation:
Left Front -- 25 psi; Left Rear -- 25 psi;
Right Front -- 54 psi; Right Rear -- 50 psi

Notes: NASCAR Sprint Cup teams will run a completely different tire set-up than those in the Camping World Truck Series at Kansas this week . . . this is the first time Sprint Cup teams have run either of these two tire codes . . . compared to what was run at Kansas last year, the tires on both sides feature a construction change to bring Kansas in line with other speedways . . . this left-side tire code (D-4656) features a compound change to give the cars more grip . . . this right-side tire code (D-4662) is one of Goodyear's multi-zone tread tires, with two different compounds on the same tire -- the compound on the inboard two inches (Endurance Zone) being the same as the full tread run at Kansas last year, and the compound on the outboard 10 inches (Traction Zone) being more tractive to give more grip . . . this tire combination came out of a Goodyear test at Kansas last September 14-15 . . . drivers participating in that test were Aric Almirola, Jimmie Johnson, Martin Truex Jr. and J.J. Yeley . . . as on all NASCAR ovals greater than one mile in length, teams are required to run inner liners in all four tire positions at Kansas . . . air pressure in those inner liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.

NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES:
Tire: Goodyear Eagle Speedway Radials

Set limits: 6 sets for the event

Tire Codes:
Left-side -- D-4670;
Right-side -- D-4672

Tire Circumference:
Left-side -- 87.60 in. (2,225 mm);
Right-side -- 88.39 in. (2,245 mm)

Minimum Recommended Inflation:
Left Front -- 26 psi; Right Front -- 54 psi;
Left Rear -- 26 psi; Right Rear -- 50 psi

Notes: NASCAR Camping World Truck teams will run a completely different tire set-up than those in the Sprint Cup Series at Kansas this week . . . this is the first time Camping World Truck teams have run either of these two tire codes . . . both the left- and right-side tires feature the same compound run at Kansas last year, though there is a construction change on both sides to Goodyear's updated speedway construction . . . as on all NASCAR ovals greater than one mile in length, teams are required to run inner liners in all four tire positions at Kansas . . . air pressure in those inner liners should be 12-25 psi greater than that of the outer tire.
