CUP/XFINITY: Indianapolis Recap (July 2015)

UNB! NETWORK STAFF REPORT

Sprint Cup Series
Kyle Busch is on a mission to get into the Top-30 by winning once again.

Busch, who was injured in the first XFINITY Series race earlier this season, missed the beginning of the season, putting him outside the Top-30 in Cup Series standings.

But, Busch has now win his 4th race in his 9 starts in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series this season.

Stats Look (Cup)
--Kyle Busch won his 4th race in the past 5.

--The Busch brothers have now won 5 of the past 6 races.

--Kyle Busch tied Jimmie Johnson's record of 3 consecutive wins in the Sprint Cup Series, which Johnson set back in 2007, where Johnson went on to win 10 races, and his 2nd of 5 consecutive championships, 6 championships in total currently in his career. Johnson also has a record of 4 consecutive wins, which was set at a different time of the three wins back in 2007.

--Kyle Busch is 23 points outside the Top-30 in Sprint Cup points. One requirement of being in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup is that you must be in the Top-30.

XFINITY Series
Kyle Busch once again showed that he will not let an injury stop him.

After starting on the pole (1st place), he would lead 53 of 100 laps to get the win in the 2015 Lilly Diabetes 250 at the Brickyard.

He made a last-lap pass on Ryan Blaney for the victory.

Going into that race, Ty Dillon was the winner the year before. He would finish 9th.

Chris Buescher was able to maintain his points lead over Chase Elliott, but it shrunk to a 25 point lead. Elliott finished 10th, and Buescher finished 16th.
