Joey Logano in the No. 22 Discount Tire Ford had the lead coming to the tri-oval in the NASCAR XFINITY Series' Sparks Energy 300, until he was turned coming to the checkered flag.
Elliott Sadler was pushing Logano at the time. Sadler and XFINITY Series rookie Brennan Poole wound up battling to the checkered flag.
Poole beat Sadler to the checkered flag, so Poole was originally declared the winner of the race.
But then NASCAR reviewed the finish, which showed that Sadler was in the lead the moment the caution came out. Therefore, Elliott Sadler was officially declared the race winner.
"People don't know how hard it is to win these races," Sadler said in victory lane after the race.
Poole handled his interview after the race really well, doing the interview with true professionalism.
"Just really cool to have an opportunity at the win," Poole said.
Poole was credited with a third-place finish.
Justin Allgaier finished second, followed by Poole, Jeremy Clements, Brendan Gaughan, Austin Dillon, Daniel Suarez, Matt Tifft - who started the race on the pole, Chase Elliott and Aric Almirola to round out the Top-10.
Gaughan earned his first Top-5 of 2016 and his best career finish at Talladega in the XFINITY Series.
Sadler and Daniel Suarez are now tied for the NASCAR XFINITY Series points lead. The tiebreaker is based on wins. With the win, Sadler now breaks the tiebreaker, as Suarez has not yet won this season.
In the race, there was six cautions for a total of 29 caution laps. There were 13 different leaders among 20 lead changes.
