Firestone 600 in rain delay after 71 laps

FORT WORTH, TX – The Firestone 600 Verizon IndyCar Series race at Texas Motor Speedway, which was supposed to be last night on Saturday but rain pushed it to Sunday, is now in a rain delay after 71 of 248 laps completed.

The Top-10 during the rain delay has James Hinchcliffe out front, followed by Ryan Hunter-Reay, Mikhail Aleshin, Will Power, Ed Carpenter, Gabby Chaves, Helio Castroneves, Charlie Kimball, Carlos Munoz and Juan Pablo Montoya.

On lap 42, there was a huge wreck involving Josef Newgarden and Conor Daly.

Daly was exiting Turn 4 when his Dale Coyne Racing-Honda got loose and wound up going up the racing surface where he collided into Newgarden’s Chevrolet.

Newgarden was injured in the wreck, and was transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital near the track for treatment.
