NASCAR announces post-Michigan penalties

NASCAR has announced penalties and warnings following the FireKeepers Casino 400 Sprint Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway on June 12th.

Kyle Larson was given a P3 penalty for violations of Sections 12-1; 20.17.3.1.2 (Failed the post-race Laser Inspection Station measurements). Interim Crew chief (Philip Surgen) has been fined $25,000; team has been assessed with the loss of 15 championship owner and 15 championship driver points
The following warnings were issued:

Clint Bowyer, Failed LIS twice in, pre-race, Written warning Brad Keselowski, Greg Biffle, David Ragan, Michael Annett, Failed LIS three times, pre-qualifying, Written warning/loss of 15 min. practice time

Jeffrey Earnhardt, Brian Scott, Martin Truex, Jr., Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Failed LIS twice, pre-qualifying, Written warning.

Tony Stewart, Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., Chase Elliott, Chris Buescher, Kurt Busch, AJ Allmendinger (2), Cole Whitt Martin Truex, Jr., Failed template inspection twice, prequalifying, Written warning.

NASCAR also announced a penalty following the Menards 250 XFINITY Series race at Michigan International Speedway on June 11th.

The No. 22 team of Joey Logano was given a P2 penalty for violation of Sections 12-1; 20.17.3.1.2 (Failed the post-race Laser Inspection Station measurements). Crew chief (Brian Wilson) has been fined $7,500 and the team has been assessed with the loss of 10 championship owner points.

The Nos. 11 and 23 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series teams were also penalized after their standalone event last Friday at Texas Motor Speedway.

Scott Zipadelli, crew chief for the No. 11, was fined $5,000, suspended from all NASCAR Series Championship points events through June 22 and placed on NASCAR probation through Dec. 31 for not having the truck's lug nuts properly installed. This is a P3 penalty (Sections 12-1; 10.11.3.4 a).

The No. 23 team, piloted by Spencer Gallagher, received its second written warning of the season for the truck trailing arm U-bolts and U-bolt mounting saddles not conforming to specified rule book drawings in pre-qualifying inspection.
