BROOKLYN, MI – Dale Earnhardt Jr. was involved in a wreck with Chris Buescher and AJ Allmendinger at Michigan International Speedway in Sunday's FireKeepers Casino 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.
On the 61st of 200 laps in the event, Earnhardt, who started 27th, had his rear fender make contact with Buescher's No. 34 Ford in Turn 2. After the hit, Earnhardt slid up track, collecting the No. 47 of Allmendinger.
"(The impact) wasn't too bad, actually," Earnhardt Jr. told FS1. "I knew I was going to hit the wall. The 34 (of Chris Buescher) just drove into my left rear quarter panel, man. I don't know. On restarts you have a responsibility to take care of everyone out there, even when you're three-wide. I'm disappointed in that."After the hit, Earnhardt took his No. 88 Chevrolet to the garage, where his race day ended. He will likely be credited with a 39th-place finish in the event.
The car was good today and getting faster. Easy top 10. Haven't been wrecked in a while but that is part of racing. Vacation starts early.— Dale Earnhardt Jr. (@DaleJr) June 12, 2016
