Snider on top at MIS...fastest in final practice

BROOKLYN, Mich. (June 9, 2016) – If you look at the cover photo, you get the idea that rookie Myatt Snider was fairly-well satisfied with his day at Michigan Int’l Speedway. And who wouldn’t be?...After all, the Charlotte, North Carolina driver was fastest in both ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards practice sessions Thursday.

Snider, in the No. 22 Cunningham Motorsports Original Louisiana Hot Sauce Ford, put up the fastest lap in final practice, circling the two-mile Michigan oval in 38.130 seconds, an average speed of 188.828 mph. Snider tested at Michigan back in May.

“Now that I’ve had a little more time to practice on the track, I’m getting more comfortable all the time,” Snider said.

“The car’s better…I’m a little better. We learned what we could in the test and made some adjustments. No big swings or anything but some fine tuning. The Original Louisiana Hot Sauce Ford is super fast.”

Snider’s Cunningham teammate Chase Briscoe was second fastest at 188.793 mph in the No. 77 Big Tine Ford.

Venturini Motorsports’ Dalton Sargeant was third fastest overall in the No. 55 Toyota Racing Development-Windows 10 Toyota at 188.176 mph.

“I think we’re going to be pretty good,” Sargeant said. “Car’s really strong. It took most of both practices to get it dialed in but I’d say we’re right there. From the test, we went home and made some big swings and it’s making a big difference. We have a legitimate shot at this.”

Brandon Jones was fourth fastest in the No. 8 Valvoline-Menards Chevrolet for Ranier Racing with MDM. Jones, turning his first laps at Michigan, had a best speed of 187.686 mph.

“Pretty cool little place…actually…pretty cool big place I should say,” Jones said. “It feels fast…big, sweeping corners…a lot of fun to drive. We had really good speed right off the trailer. We were a little too tight but made some adjustments. For my first time here, I’m pretty pleased with everything…looking forward to the race.”

Jones’ teammate Kyle Benjamin was fifth overall at 187.466 mph in the No. 28 FEVR Chevrolet. Benjamin was also turning his first laps at Michigan.

ARCA Release.
