INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Ross Chastain bounced back from a tough race at Loudon, N.H., to register a 21st-place finish in Saturday’s Lilly Diabetes 250 Xfinity Series race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Chastain has finished in the top 22 in 13 of the past 14 Xfinity races.
He finished one lap down to the leaders in Saturday’s race, one of the highlight events of the Xfinity season.
“We were looking for a top-15 finish on the lead lap and missed it a bit, but it was a pretty good run for the Dream Water Chevrolet,” Chastain said. “It was my second time here, and I feel like I made some gains on the track. We’ll move on from this."
Chastain stayed 13th in Xfinity Series driver points.
Sprint Cup driver Kyle Busch dominated the race to win. Daniel Suarez kept the point lead.
The series moves on to Iowa Speedway for a July 30 race.
