INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Ryan Preece finished 25th Saturday in his first race – the Lilly Diabetes 250 Xfinity Series event – at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Preece qualified 27th and finished two laps behind the lead group in 25th.
He raced as high as 12th.
“We had a pretty good car for a tough track,” Preece said. “This track demands a lot from a driver, the team and the car. We were looking for a better finish, but it wasn’t a bad day for the first time out here.”
Preece drove the Castleton Outdoor Solutions Chevrolet with more sponsorship from Lyndhurst Lawnmower, Toro and Ferris. He stayed in 18th in Xfinity points.
Sprint Cup driver Kyle Busch dominated the race to win. Daniel Suarez kept the point lead.
The series moves on to Iowa Speedway for a July 30 race.
