ADVANCE NOTES
Stenhouse Jr. at Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Stenhouse has three NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) starts at IMS with an average starting position of 25.0 and average finishing position of 28.0.
Stenhouse has completed 99.2% (400 of 404) of the laps at the historical 2.5-mile track
Last time at Indianapolis Motor Speedway
On the restart, as the Olive Branch, Miss. native was jockeying for position, the right front tire was cut forcing Stenhouse to bring his Roush Fenway Racing Ford to pit-road under green flag conditions causing him to lose a lap. With differences in pit strategy and few laps remaining in the 160-lap race, Stenhouse Jr. was unable to recover, forcing the two-time XFINITY champion to settle with a 35th-place finish.

Stenhouse Jr. on racing at Indianapolis:
“I always enjoy going back to Indy since I didn’t live too far from there for about a year when I raced Sprint Cars. Last year we raced a package with a taller spoiler which made it really hard to pass. I’m looking forward to getting on track Friday and seeing how the cars handle with our current aeropackage. I think if we can maintain our track position near the front and not have any misfortunes like last year then we should have a strong showing in our SunnyD Ford.”
Sandler on racing at Indianapolis:
“We all look forward to racing at this historic track. The No. 6 team tested at Indy last week so we will look at their data to build off of and also look at Pocono since the two tracks are similar in some ways. Track position is really important at Indy because it is hard to pass and tends to be a one groove track. The race usually comes down to pit strategy and fuel mileage so if we can make the right calls I think we should leave Indy with a solid finish."
