LONG POND, PA – Martin Truex, Jr won the pole for the Pennsylvania 400 Sprint Cup Series race at Pocono Raceway with speed of 179.244 MPH for his 3rd pole of 2016, 1st at Pocono and 10th of his career. Truex, Jr has won from the pole once in nine previous tries.
Carl Edwards will start 2nd, followed by Paul Menard, Denny Hamlin, Ryan Newman, Tony Stewart, Brad Keselowski, Chase Elliott, Matt Kenseth, Joey Logano, Kyle Larson and Austin Dillon.
Jeff Gordon, subbing for Dale Earnhardt, Jr., will start 24th.
Truex, Jr was fastest in the second round with a speed of 178.426 MPH and will start on the pole.
Edwards paced the opening round of qualifying at 177.880mph and starts 2nd.
All drivers qualified for the race.
