BRISTOL, Tenn. – With the Xfinity Series regular season winding down, Ross Chastain remains in the hunt for a berth in the first Xfinity Chase playoff.
Twelve drivers will compete for the Xfinity championship. Drivers earn berths in the playoffs either through race victories or points positions.
Chastain is 13th in points and on the edge of Chase qualification as the series moves to Bristol Motor Speedway for Friday’s Food City 300.
“We’re going to give it all we’ve got for these last few races and shoot for the Chase,” Chastain said. “It would be a great thing to get this team and (team owner) Johnny Davis in the first Xfinity Chase. Everybody has worked really hard this year.”
BMS is a good track for Chastain. He finished 13th there in the spring race, and he finished third in a Camping World Truck Series race at Bristol in 2012.
Practice for Friday’s race is scheduled at 1 and 3:30 p.m. Thursday. Qualifying is set for 3:15 p.m. Friday, with the race to follow at 7:30 p.m.
