Smithley 39th at Watkins Glen

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. – Garrett Smithley’s first race day at Watkins Glen International was short.

Smithley’s Chevrolet overheated only 13 laps into the race, and he was forced to the garage. He finished 39th.

Although it was his worst race finish of the year, Smithley stayed 17th in Xfinity driver points 20 races into the season.

Joey Logano won the race, leading 67 of the 82 laps. Elliott Sadler kept the point lead.

The Xfinity Series moves on to Mid-Ohio for an Aug. 13 race.
