JJ Yeley, driver of the No. 44 Zachry Toyota became the victim of circumstance after being caught up in a late race incident resulting in a 27th place finish in the Food City 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Yeley qualified 19th after rain delayed qualifying efforts. Early in the race, Yeley relayed the Zachry Toyota was loose on exit. He had advanced to 18th when, under caution on lap 75, he pitted for four tires, fuel and a track bar adjustment. He returned to the field and consistently ran in the 16th position until the next caution on lap 150.
Yeley pitted again for more adjustments to the No. 44 Zachry Toyota. He resumed the 16th position, and had fallen back to 17th when another caution struck. He reported the Zachry Toyota needed more rear grip stating adjustments made during the previous pit stop had resulted in loose handling. With the next caution, Crew Chief Frank Kerr called Yeley to pit and Yeley requested a wedge adjustment.
Soon after returning to green flag racing, Yeley was caught up in an incident that caused right front damage to the Zachry Toyota. He pitted three times for assessment of damage and repairs; causing him to fall back to the 28th position.
An incident between the leaders with four laps remaining created a green, white, checkers scenario where Yeley ultimately took the checkers 27th to complete the Food City 300.
