WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. – Ryan Preece finished 27th in Saturday’s Zippo 200 Xfinity Series race at Watkins Glen International after a suspension problem sent him to the garage 67 laps into the race’s 82.
The race marked Preece’s debut at the twisting road course. He ran as high as sixth after qualifying 21st.
“You can’t predict every problem that’s going to pop up,” Preece said. “It’s unfortunate. I thought we had a representative car, and I had gotten used to the quirks of the track.”
Preece stayed 18th in Xfinity driver points.
Joey Logano won the race, and Elliott Sadler kept the point lead.
The Xfinity Series moves on to Mid-Ohio for an Aug. 13 race, the second of three road-course events this year.
