BRISTOL, Tenn. – Garrett Smithley traveled to Bristol Motor Speedway early this week, both to help friends in the Camping World Truck Series race and to get another look at the track where he’ll race Friday night.
Smithley made his debut at BMS in the spring, finishing 20th in the first Xfinity Series event of the season at the fast half-mile track.
“Bristol is a great track for drivers,” Smithley said. “It’s fast, and it requires your attention every second. So much can happen so quickly. I’m looking forward to taking another shot at it.”
Smithley enters Friday’s race in 17th place in Xfinity driver points.
Practice for Friday’s race is scheduled at 1 and 3:30 p.m. Thursday. Qualifying is set for 3:15 p.m. Friday, with the race to follow at 7:30 p.m.
