BRISTOL, TN -- Carl Edwards yesterday won the Coors Light pole for the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race Sprint Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway with speed of 131.407 MPH for his 5th pole of 2016, 4th at Bristol and 21st of his career. Edwards has won three races from the pole in his career in 20 tires, including twice at Bristol. Edwards won from the pole in April at Bristol, leading 276 of 500 laps.
Denny Hamlin will start 2nd, followed by Kyle Busch, Ryan Blaney, Matt Kenseth, Chase Elliott, Martin Truex, Jr., AJ Allmendinger, Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano, Jeff Gordon and Chris Buescher (career best start).
Hamlin was also quickest in the second round with a speed of 130.495 MPH, and was fastest in the first round at 131.668 MPH, setting a new track record. He starts 2nd.
Since the maximum of 40 cars entered the race, everyone made the race.
