RICHMOND, VA – Denny Hamlin won the Coors Light pole for the Federated Auto Parts 400 Sprint Cup Series race at Richmond International Raceway with speed of 122.344mph for his 1st pole of 2016, 3rd at Richmond and 24th of his career. Hamlin has won 3 races from the pole in his career in 23 tries.
Kyle Larson will start 2nd, followed by Matt Kenseth, Jamie McMurray, Kurt Busch, Martin Truex, Jr., Kasey Kahne, Austin Dillon, Kyle Busch, Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon and Joey Logano.
Kurt Busch was fastest in the first round at 123.808 MPH and the second round at 123.338 MPH. He starts 5th.
41 cars were entered. The only driver to not make the race was Cole Whitt.
