CHARLOTTE: Today's Sprint Cup & XFINITY Practice & Qualifying Notes

UNB! NETWORK PRACTICE REPORT
Dale Earnhardt Jr. in the garage during today's practice sessions for the NASCAR Sprint
Cup Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES
Thursday practice for the Bank of America Sprint Cup Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway is over. 

After 85 scheduled minutes, top five, slowest and notes:

1.) Kevin Harvick - 193.500 MPH
2.) Matt Kenseth - 192.892 MPH
3.) Greg Biffle - 192.885 MPH
4.) Joey Logano - 192.458 MPH
5.) Kasey Kahne - 192.321 MPH

Slowest: Timmy Hill - 178.136 MPH, and Alex Kennedy - 178.879 MPH.


Most Lap Run: Landon Cassill, 29; Alex Kennedy, 28


Notes: Ricky Stenhouse Jr. had a tire rub and slid up the track, almost hitting the wall, but saved it.

Qualifying Fast Facts:Matt Kenseth won the Coors Light Pole Award for the 56th Annual Bank of America 500 with a lap of 27.759 seconds, 194.532 MPH.
  • This is his 17th pole in 574 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races.
  • This is his fourth pole and 16th top-10 start in 2015.
  • This is his second pole in 33 races at Charlotte Motor Speedway (both in 2015).
Kyle Busch, who qualified second, posted his 14th top-10 start of 2015 and his 12th in 24 races at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Joey Logano, who qualified third, posted his fourth top-10 start at Charlotte Motor Speedway. It is his 23rd in 30 races this season.


Brett Moffitt, who qualified 37th, was the fastest qualifying rookie.


NASCAR XFINITY SERIES
Kyle Busch was fastest during opening XFINITY Series practice at Charlotte Motor Speedway with a speed of 181.886 MPH. Chris Buescher was second, followed by Ty Dillon, Kasey Kahne, Ryan Reed, Brad Keselowski, Austin Dillon, Brian Scott, Erik Jones, and Regan Smith. All 40 drivers practiced during the session.

Kasey Kahne was quickest during happy hour for the Drive for the Cure 300 with a speed of 180.433 MPH. He was followed by:Kyle Busch, Chris Buescher, Regan Smith, Erik Jones, Brad Keselowski, Austin Dillon, Ty Dillon, Darrell Wallace, Jr., and Brian Scott. 40 drivers participated in the session.
