GMS Racing Truck Team Hit Hard With P4 Penalty
NASCAR has assessed a P4 level penalty to the No. 33 GMS Racing team of Camping World Truck Series driver Brandon Jones for an infraction discovered during pre-qualifying inspection for last weekend's Truck Series race at Talladega Superspeedway.
The penalty was issued for illegal brackets/supports on Jones' truck. Crew chief Shane Huffman has been fined $10,000, suspended for the next three truck races, as well any non-championship races or other special races or events that may occur during that period, and placed on NASCAR probation for six months after the issuing of the penalty.
Jones and team owner Maurice Gallagher Jr. have been docked 25 championship driver points and 25 championship owner points, respectively.
Jones finished second to Timothy Peters in said race this past weekend at Talladega.
Crew Member Resinated
NASCAR has reinstated Brian R. Allen, a crew member in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. On September 30, 2015, Allen was found to have violated Sections 7.5 (Violation of the NASCAR Code of Conduct) and 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing) of the NASCAR Rule Book.
