UNB! NETWORK STAFF REPORT
It took a Green-White-Checkered finish for Kyle Busch to get the win in last night's XFINITY Series race.
"This is home, this is where I'm supposed to be," said Busch in victory lane after winning the race in a Green-White-Checkered finish. "I wish I was here Wednesday night so we could continue the sweep lookout for tomorrow, but that was a second place. Oh well."
Chris Buescher leads the point standings by 19 points over Ty Dillon.
Buescher was having an okay night, but he was worried about fuel. Late in the race, he had many opportunities to pit, for example, on lap 215 (for an incident with JJ Yeley in Turn 2), lap 250 (For Elliott Sadler hitting the wall in Turn 2 and making contact with Brendan Gaughan), and on lap 258 (for a wreck involving Ryan Reed and Dylan Kwasniewski in Turn 1).
Buescher's problem wouldn't be fuel, because on lap 296 he was involved in an incident with Brad Teague, which put the race into a Green-White-Checkered finish.
In said GWC finish, Busch may have earned his third XFINITY Series victory of this season, but Kyle Larson was able to surge past Denny Hamlin to finish 2nd place.
"Just ran out of fuel," Buescher said. "Lost it in the pickup. I'm mad. We were so good. We knew we were good all day.
"It's unfortunate,". he also said. "I'm really upset. We just needed the track position. We were faster than a lot of guys we were racing around all night and once we got track position we showed we could run away from these guys. We had the speed, but it just wasn't meant to be."
